security system was a huge task.

their concerns.

HLL is one of the largest
Fast Moving Consumer Goods
(FMCG) Company operating from
India. In 1888, with the launch
of Sunlight soap bars in India,
HLL group became the pioneers
to market branded and Packaged
Mass Consumption Goods in
the country. HLL is the offspring
of the global FMCG giant,
UniLever, which holds 51.55%
of equity. The company was
founded in the year 1933,
as Lever Brothers India Limited,
and finally its name changed
to Hindustan Lever Limited
in 1956.

goods categories and touch the
lives of 2 out of every 3 Indians.
Around 41,000 employees, including
1550 managers work in this huge
family. HLL markets more than
100 brands that are manufactured
in over 100 plants, spread across

is the largest marketer of soaps,
detergents and home care products.
It has the country’s largest
Personal Products Business,
leading in shampoos, skin care
products, Colour cosmetics and
deodarants. HLL is also market
leader in tea, Processed coffee,
branded wheat flour, tomato
products, ice cream, soups,
jams and squashes. HLL is also
country’s biggest exporter
and has been recognized as golden
super star trading company by
Govt of India

Concern |
| With
the company’s business
empire spread across the length
and breadth of the country,
and the network crossing state
borders, it is really a Herculean
task to manage the huge data
bank and document of the group
without any pilferage. An intrusion
or hacking can lead to a total
collapse of the empire. Loss
of a few bytes of data can transform
into losses of crores and millions.
Ever increasing number of computer
viruses and hackers pose a constant
threat not only for HLL, but
also for all the corporate giants
across the World.

already had a system to protect
the network from possible attacks.
But their concern was not totally
overruled. Since the personnel
of the company engaged in securing
the network is positioned in
different parts of the country,
the steps for securing the network
should be made available to
all of them.

| Secure
Server Build - Document Management
System |
| Aufait
designed a secure server build
system for HLL. This consists
of step-by-step procedure for
securing computer systems in
the network. The procedures
are captured in several Microsoft
Word Document with screen shots and tables describing
different server settings. For
effective and efficient utilization
of the build system, the
document
will be hosted on an intranet
server at the customer premises.
Error free version control is
assured when the documents are
placed in the central server
and only users with proper privileges
do version updating. By logging
on to the server normal users
will be able to access the latest
version of the documents. |
